Professional Fees -
The Allen Firm, P.C. is committed to
accomplishing a client's objectives in a timely, efficient,
professional, and cost-effective manner. The firm employs an array
of state-of-the-art technology to manage its document-intensive
cases and to provide a well-trained staff to streamline procedures.
The professional fees charged by the attorneys and
staff of the law firm are intended to provide fair compensation for
legal services rendered. Depending on the facts of each case, fees
can be based on an hourly rate, a contingency, a flat fee, or a
combination of methods.
An hourly-rate fee is a fee based on an agreed
rate of charge for each hour worked by the professional staff. A
contingent fee is a fee based on the results obtained in the case.
Customarily, the contingent fee is larger if the case is successful,
but results in no professional fee being charged should the case be
unsuccessful. A flat fee is a fee agreed upon in advance for
handling the legal matter.
Unless otherwise agreed, all matters are
handled by the law firm based on an hourly-rate fee. Usually a retainer is
required. A retainer is an advance payment toward professional fees
to be held in trust by the law firm until the fee has been earned.
Any unearned retainer is refunded at the conclusion of the matter.
Additionally, the law firm provides reduced fee
services through its Private Attorney Involvement with the Legal
Services Corporation.
The law firm considers the following criteria in
establishing its fees:
-
time and labor required;
-
complexities of the questions and issues
involved;
-
the skill required to perform the
services;
-
expertise of the attorney in the
complexities of the issues;
-
imposed document preparation and court
deadlines;
-
the necessary overhead associated with
the rendering of the services; and
-
assumption of risk by the attorney in rendering the services.
If requested, financial arrangements are openly
discussed with clients in advance so that both the attorney and the
client understand the financial arrangements prior to the matter
being taken by the firm. Payment is accepted by MasterCard, Visa, or
personal check. You are encouraged to ask any questions you may have
regarding professional fees.
